In March of 2003 Eric de Guzman's days of playing junior hockey came to an end. Without hockey occupying Eric's schedule, Eric needed to find employment. Eric stared selling hockey equipment, sharpened skates, taught power skating & hockey (Tucker Enterprise; Rex Tucker: 403-244-5037). During this time of Eric's life he had to make the decision of "Life and Work" or "Hockey". Eric's stayed in training for hockey where he was to have a tryout in a semi pro hockey league in the southern states. While on his weight gaining program Eric started teaching boxing as a favor for the owner of Fitness NW Richard Milne: 403-252-2222). Lee Milne was Erics first fighter in his stable. This one person turned into a group of four 13 year old kids training regularly four times a week. This group of little kids brought the attraction of how hard boxers train and soon started attracting adults. Teofista Boxing Gym operated out of the corner of Fitness NW for the next eight months. As the members started multiplying the limited space and equipment (1 heavy bag, 1 double end bag, 2 skipping ropes, and a 15 foot floor space) started to become an issue. October 2003 Teofista Boxing Gym became an incorporated company with the help Richard Milne of Fitness NW. Richard Milne’s fine business smarts and generosity help start Teofista Boxing Gym until it was operable by Eric De Guzman than Richard Milne whom put a lot of time and effort building and renovating the undeveloped space, sold the business to Eric for $1.

Teofista Boxing Gym has been opened since January 2003 (inc. in an other gym in 2002) and has a full size competition style ring. There are also 6 heavy bags, 3 speed bags, 3 double end bags, and a slip bag. The gym is also equipt with a twenty foot sprung wood aerobic floor used for strength and conditioning programs. Skipping also occupies this space at the beginning of every class.
